Don’t Let the Insurance Company Decide What Your Case Is Worth.

Your case is worth more than the insurance company wants to admit.

Do You Have a Claim?

Following a car accident, you may be questioning whether you have a right to file a claim. Generally, a claim may be available when:

  • Another person’s negligence caused the accident; and
  • You or a family member suffered injuries or damages as a result.

Our attorneys can review what happened, explain your legal options, and help determine whether you have a claim worth pursuing.

What to Do Immediately
Following an Accident

The steps you take after an accident can protect your health, preserve important evidence, and help your claim.

View Important Steps After an Accident   ›
  1. Do not leave the scene. Illinois law requires that you remain at the scene of an accident.
  2. If you are in pain, remain in your vehicle if the situation permits it and it is not dangerous to do so. Alert any person present that you are injured and in pain.
  3. Contact the police for help. You will need to file a police report and explain how the accident occurred.
  4. Leave your vehicle where it is unless it is blocking traffic or it is dangerous to do so.
  5. If you are able, take photographs of the damage to all of the vehicles involved as well as of the scene.
  6. If you are injured go to the hospital immediately. If it is necessary request that an ambulance take you to the emergency room. Make sure to follow your doctor’s recommendations and to follow up with your doctor as necessary.
  7. Contact your insurance company and advise them of the accident.
  8. If you are contacted by the other party’s insurance company, do not speak with them until after you have spoken with an attorney. Even your innocent comments can be manipulated and used against you. The other party’s insurer is already working to minimize their liability and your claim. The best way to protect your interests and rights is to work through your attorney when dealing with the other party’s insurer.
